How to shave my Bikini area??? ?

Hey! I am going to the beach in 3 days with my boyfriend. In previous times I have tried to shave my bikini area and when ever I did no matter how much lotion I applied I would get little red bumps that looked like zits and it hurt and itched really bAd!!!! But now that I am going to the beAch with him I wanna look clean and trimmed if you know what I mean! So does anyone have any ideas for me to get it trimmed down there without the bumps and hurt?? And is there anything I can do to make that not happen? & I can't wax!! Don't have the time or money!! Thanks!!!!!!
