Resenting my mom for spanking me?

Is it bad to resent my mom for spanking me for years thinking it would teach me a lesson? She would leave me wellps and she would spank my thighs and basically anywhere she could get. If I moved and she hit me somewhere she shouldn't have she wouldn't apologize she would just keep going until I start to cry. I just hate her for feeling she had the right to do that. I get shes my mom but she could have talk to me about what was going on put me on punishment. But I think she thought I'd fear her with her doing this but it just made me resent and hate her. And I can't get over the feeling what would you do? Confront your mom about it or what??? And anyone else ever felt this way???
