Should I be a personal assistant to a celebrity?

Here's the thing. The term "difficult" means different things to different people and what might be a problem for one PA to deal with can be a piece of cake for another. Presumably after three interviews, the celebrity and potential PA have a rapport. It's time for a face to face (ideally) honest and clear conversation about these "difficulties." The potential PA can reveal her concerns and hear how the celeb responds. She can ask, "Are you a screamer?" "What kinds of things make you angry, annoyed, upset, etc.?" Figure out a way to phrase these concerns and you will be respected for it...or not. Better to discuss this before you are hired, not after. These kinds of questions are totally appropriate at this stage of the interview process. The PA also has an opportunity to say how she works best which is important for her potential employer to know. Being a PA is a very complicated and multi-faceted role which requires excellent two-way communication in order for the relationship to be successful. If this kind of groundwork is not done and the expectations are not clear, that is the formula for a revolving door of assistants. Bonnie Low-Kramen, www.bonnielowkramen.com
